Projects and Programs at Accidential Anomalies

August 26, 2010

We are currently working with Isaacson Structural Steel Fabrication on a stair and handrail project for Bath Iron Works. With a busy shop and a schedule to keep, Isaacson called Accidental Anomalies, Inc. for assistance to finish this project on schedule. Our ability to do in house stair painting was a key factor in their decision to contact us. We look forward to building an ongoing relationship and working with them in the future.

We are working on a stair and handrail project for the Woolwich School with Ledgewood Construction. This falls into our specialty area of working with schools. Over the last several years, working on projects for public schools has been a primary focus at Accidental Anomalies. Developing this relationship with Ledgewood Construction is very important to us in our hopes to negotiate a contract to work with them on the Biddeford High School renovation project.

The Falmouth Elementary school project is in the works. We are currently preparing laser cut rail panels for approval. Once approval of the railing panels is received we will begin laser cutting the rail panels to be installed in Falmouth Elementary School before the end of the year. We have started supplying the first items for the University of Maine at Orono’s AEWC Offshore Wind Laboratory Expansion project.

Maine Spiral Staircase continues to hold steady with consistent orders, even in this down economy. Come visit us as the Common Ground Fair September 24th-26th and the Fryeburg Fair October 3rd-10th. Maine Spiral Stair will have stairs on display and information to share at both locations.

This summer the our robotic welding robot has been busy welding dock sections for the Great Northern Dock Company out of Casco, Maine. We will also be continuing with an ongoing project for the government that includes aluminum welding.

There are several smaller size jobs in the works and being completed here at Accidental Anomalies. Look for an upcoming article featuring these projects with photos.

Accidental Anomalies Projects Update

June 21, 2010
There are several new projects in the works at Accidental Anomalies including Hampden Academy, AEWC Offshore Wind Lab, and the Bowdoin College Boiler Plant.  Our work at Hampden Academy will include stair and handrail systems with J & J Contractors, Inc. of Lowell, MA.  Another project we are focusing on is the University of Maine at Orono Advanced Structures and Composites Center’s (AEWC) Offshore Wind Laboratory Expansion. Currently under construction, by Cianbro, this project will include stairs, handrails and other structural fabrication. This 37,000 sq foot expansion will give the University of Maine the only laboratory in the United States to include complete development capabilities: designing, prototyping and performance characterization of large structural hybrid composite and nanocomposite components for the deepwater offshore wind energy industry. At Bowdoin College upgrades to the Boiler Plant are being done by HP Cummings. We will be fabricating and installing structural upgrades to the building for this new green facility.  In addition, we are currently in the process of setting up a 30 hour OSHA training for select employees

Accidental Anomalies Continues School Work

May 20, 2010
We are currently working on several local school projects including Brunswick Elementary School, Falmouth Elementary School and Colby College Dorms. Work at these schools includes stair and handrail systems that will improve accessibility and convenience inside the buildings. The components of the Colby College Dorm stair system have been built. We are gearing up to transport and install them at the Drummond and Goddard-Hodgkins (known to students as "Go-Ho") Dorm at Colby College next week. This is the 3rd installation at Colby in a multi-dorm project that spans several years. Photos of these large components being loaded on a truck for transport are coming soon. The stairs for the Falmouth Elementary School are currently being built in our shop and photos will be available soon.
